A week loaded with emotions!!
Being the defendant champion, playing at home and for the first time being the #1 seed of this tournament added a lot of mental pressure. And to top it off, I was physically weak after the strenuous efforts at the Panamerican games.
The first match was against Shaun Le Roux for a final 3-0 score to my favor. The second round was an upbeat match against Zahed Mohamed for a 3-1 win.
In the semifinals it was a challenge against Saurav Ghosal. After being 2-0 down I managed to overcome the score and had 3 match points. I was close, but it wasn’t my match to win. The final game was a tight 12-10 to give Saurav a well deserved victory. It was a fast paced and demanding match that along with the previous physical challenges took a toll on my body and I was out.
Despite the difficulties it was a fantastic tournament where I gave my best. I will come back stronger in 2016.
